The Blue Mountains township of Mt Victoria is 1050 metres above sea level – a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the organisers of a new dance party called… 1050!

A regular new dance party for LGBTI people and their friends, 1050’s home is the Victoria & Albert Guesthouse, Mt Victoria. Supported by local and Sydney DJs, queer performers and artists, its first outing will be the 1050 – Dags to Riches party from 8pm, Saturday September 19. Dressing up in the ‘dags to riches’ theme is encouraged (but not compulsory) for the 18+ party, where the talent will include DJs Ben Drayton, Shorty and Scada; with shows by ZooFi, Stelladelight and Beaver.

Tickets are already selling fast, with a wide mix of Blue Mountains locals and Sydneysiders attending. Out-of-towners can catch the train to Mt Vic (a comfortable two hour train journey from Central Station) or – even better – stay the night at the Victoria and Albert Guesthouse, which is packed with historic charm and central to all the main Blue Mountains attractions. Various levels of accommodation are available – call (02) 4787 1241 for details. Rates include a cooked breakfast on Sunday morning plus a discounted ticket to the party.

Tickets ($25 plus booking fee) are available now via Moshtix. There’s no need to book tickets if you’re staying at the guesthouse that night – just mention 1050 when booking your accommodation.

For more info, visit the Moshtix link or 1050’s Facebook page.
