Since 1996, local lesbian bushwalking group the Bush Lemons has been known for their great walks – but this one will be extra special. On Saturday, August 29 the lemons will be trekking out to Lockleys Pylon near Leura – at night.

Join Bush Lemons for a full moon walk out to Lockley’s Pylon to farewell winter. The seven kilometre walk features 360 degree views from the top of the pylon and includes a short 80-metre descent. Take headlights or torches to enjoy the beauty of walking at night, and bring dinner to enjoy while marvelling at the stars!

Bush Lemons convenor Jocelyn Williams said: “The track is narrow, undulating, and sometimes rocky, but walking at night is blissfully peaceful and easier than you think.”

A strong headlight or torch (with fresh batteries) is essential. Participants are also advised to bring dinner, water, warm clothing, a camera, sturdy boots or shoes, and perhaps a trekking pole.

The group will meet at 5pm outside Leura Public School (Willow Park Avenue). For those driving up to the mountains from Sydney, exit the highway at the Leura Mall off-ramp, turn right, then right again into Britain Street – the school is located at the end, on the right.

“We will carpool from here to the start of the walk out on Mt Hay Road,” said Jocelyn.

To book your spot on the walk, please advise Jocelyn by Thursday, August 27 on 0414 572 991 or at bushscout@bigpond.com. Please leave your contact phone number when booking your place.
