Lights, camera, Eurovision
It’s time to frock up, get down and be fabulous – because Eurovision is just around the corner – and this year, in a special treat for Mountains residents and visitors, it will be playing locally on the big screen while raising funds for queer youth!
Mount Vic Flicks will be broadcasting the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest Final from 7pm this Sunday, May 15 in an initiative by the Mountains’ own Jonathan Llewellyn.
The event will help fund the upcoming Pink Mountains Same-Sex Formal for LGBTQI youth, which will be held in Katoomba on Sunday, June 11 of the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend.
“It’s time to frock up in your Eurovision finest and enjoy a fabulous night of international proportions at the much loved Mount Vic Flicks,” said the inimitable Jono, as he is widely known.
“There will be much excitement because for the second consecutive year, Australia will be included in the competition. Pop diva Dami Im will be performing her hit song Sound of Silence,” he said.
Tickets for the screening at Mount Vic Flicks are just $15 per person. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed and a raffle with great prizes will also be run on the night. Booking are essential and can be made online through trybooking.com/LETL – where you can even choose your favourite seat.

In related news, local LGBTIQ movie group Alphabet Soup Cinema will be holding their Mount Vic Flicks debut over the June long weekend with classic film The Wizard Of Oz.
The screening, at 2pm on Monday, June 13 (public holiday Monday), will help support the Pink Mountains Winter Magic Parade entry, raising funds for costumes, props and materials. Tickets ($9-$11) include a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival. Visit try booking.com/LHMB to reserve your seat.
